Low-cost carrier Flyglobespan is to launch a new route from Glasgow Airport to the Egyptian resort of Sharm El Sheikh this winter. The no-frills airline will operate Saturday flights to the popular holiday destination, with an additional Wednesday flight serving the port city of Hurghada.Fares for both destinations will start from £99.99 one-way, including taxes and charges.Flyglobespan has reportedly been encouraged by high levels of demand for seats on Sharm El Sheikh flights that it already operates out of Edinburgh Airport.

Rick Green, Chief Executive, commented: “Egypt has been steadily increasing in popularity since we started flying there two years ago and it makes sense to expand the programme.”

He continued: “Like our summer programme we think we have a good mix of destinations, but also a variety of offers – from flight-only to all-inclusive packages.”

Other destinations featured in the carrier’s winter timetable, which goes on sale tomorrow (Wednesday, April 15), include Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Paphos.
