Scandinavia Airlines (SAS) has announced plans to sell its stake in the British regional airline bmi. The multi-national carrier for Denmark, Norway and Sweden currently owns 20 per cent of bmi, but has disclosed that it is looking to streamline its operations in a “global recessionary environment”. This signals the end of the airline’s global ambitions and also includes the prospective sale of its stakes in Spanair, Air Baltic, Estonian Air, Skyways, Cubic and Trust.
