Airport officials spent a total of £300,000 on the power poles, hoping to encourage increased use of Heathrow Airport’s state-of-the-art Wifi service.Additional charging points are expected to be installed in Terminal 4 shortly.

“The simplest of ideas are often the best ideas,” commented Juan Perez of BAA. “We are confident that the power poles will provide an effective cost-free solution to a genuine problem, which will ultimately make our passengers’ airport experience more enjoyable.”As an official sponsor of the scheme, Samsung will be showcasing information about its latest electronic devices on the charging bases.

With this addition, Boston Logan Airport (BOS) now boasts non-stop service to 71 destinations, which adds up to more than twice the number of any other New England airport.

With just a short flight (about an hour and a half) you can be on your way to strolling the boardwalk of the Jersey Shore, and try your luck at some of the seaside slot machines that makes this city so wonderfully akin to Vegas.Fares in May start at $104, and in July, trickle down to half the price, at $48 for one-way.

Yesterday, Southwest Airlines announced that it would run ten non-stop flights out of Boston Logan International Airport to Chicago Midway and Baltimore/Washington for low fares. With five flights at $89 one-way to Chicago, and five at $49 one-way to Baltimore, New Englanders now have access to more convenient non-stop flights.

Other carriers are reacting, but some don’t equal Southwest’s competitive rates. As the trend catches on though, Bostonians may see a fare war that could ultimately result in super low fares from a selection of different airlines, making cheap flights to Chicago and cheap flights to Baltimore an easy find.

We checked out other airlines to see how their prices compared to Southwest’s Boston flights to Baltimore departing August 17th, and arriving August 24th. Delta Air Lines matches Southwest’s $49 one-way fare first, with its $98 round-trip deal, but others are still behind. United Airlines still has rates high in the sky at $268 round-trip, and while US Airways offers a $49 fare on the way there, the return trip costs $106. Continental Airlines offers a $98 round-trip fare, but beware – a three-hour layover in Newark is hidden in between. Will other carriers continue to follow Southwest’s trend? Keep your eyes open to see who has the cheapest Boston flights before August to find out.

Rick Green, Chief Executive, commented: “Egypt has been steadily increasing in popularity since we started flying there two years ago and it makes sense to expand the programme.”

If the economy hasn’t had you holed up in your house for the past few months, then winter surely has. If you’re aching to start spring off on the right foot, then book a cheap flight to Europe. Orbitz and Lufthansa have made it easy with their collaboration on an international spring deal with affordable overseas fares.

Lufthansa flights start at just $274, and deals are based on round-trip purchases. For the lowest prices of all, try to book between Monday through Wednesday.

Here are a few examples of the refreshing spring fares:
Book a New York flight to Geneva to spread a little diplomacy, starting at $374. Fly from Boston, the oldest city in the U.S, to Moscow, the largest city in Europe, for $541, and go from crunching politics in Washington D.C. to enjoying Belgian chocolate in Brussels for just $565. Live like the gods when you book a Miami flight to Athens for just $622, or go from Los Angeles to the Eiffel Tower in Paris for only $624. And from one culinary location to another, you can fly from San Francisco to Rome for $650.

Now that Orbitz is suspending its booking fees, you might as well get a start on these incredible deals. This arrangement doesn’t have a restricted blackout date just yet, but is scheduled to run through the season.

We’d guess it’s the normally sky-high airfares, because there’s no other reason to miss out on the amazing cuisine and culture of this country. So, if your schedule accommodates traveling in May, Iberia Airlines has just the airfare for you.Book round-trip flights to Tangier from New York, with taxes and fees included, for $567. Or, head out on a flight to Casablanca for $563. Prepare to be flexible since these prices are only good on select days in May.

To understand why this is a good deal, consider this: A round-trip flight on Iberia Airlines from NYC to Casablanca cost one traveler, with student discount, a total of $805.06 back in December and January.
